Chapter 4 Summary

Marcus, Dex's former college roommate, accepts the honor of being Dex's fifth groomsman to balance out Darcy's bridal party. When Darcy meets Marcus at Aureole for the first time, Darcy quickly dismisses him when she takes in his messy appearance. When Darcy realizes he is with a pretty, more fashionably-dressed woman, Darcy looks at Marcus with a more appraising eye. Darcy, who is angry with Dex for suggesting the tweed suit she wore, is still able to maintain the spotlight throughout the evening.

A few weeks after meeting Marcus, Darcy throws a surprise party for Rachel at their favorite club. Darcy and Marcus are hanging out at the bar together when Darcy challenges him to a drinking contest. Dex approaches Darcy and Marcus and questions her.
