Sam Kemp, a 45-year-old woman who works for Uberprint, spends the morning at Bodyworks Gym and Spa. After her boss, Simon, moves up a meeting without telling her, she grabs the wrong gym bag. Due to the mix-up, she has to wear red high-heeled Louboutins from the bag. The meeting is a failure as Sam feels embarrassed, unable to walk in heels.
Nisha Cantor, the 40-year-old wife of Carl Cantor, runs on the treadmill at Bodyworks as her husband calls. Realizing something is unusual in his tone, she panics as she prepares to meet him. As she gets dressed, she realizes that she has the wrong gym bag. Nisha arrives at the Bentley Hotel in a Bodyworks bathrobe, attempting to speak with Carl. Instead, Ari, Carl’s security guard, serves her with divorce papers.
Following the advice of her coworker, Joel, Sam channels her confidence and aces the next two meetings. At the third meeting, she bonds with the next company’s negotiator, Miriam Price, over designer shoes.
Back at the Bentley, the hotel manager ejects Nisha from the premises and confirms that she no longer has access to her accounts.
At Sam’s office, Simon berates her for losing an account. Regardless, Sam celebrates her success later that night in the Louboutins at the White Horse pub with her coworkers.
Sam visits with her best friend, Andrea, and discusses Sam’s declining relationship with her husband, Phil.
Nisha meets with a lawyer who informs her that United States divorce law is unforgiving and Nisha will not get anything.
Nisha returns to the Bentley to speak with Carl. She sees Ari and ducks into the staff entrance to hide. She accidentally retains employment as an undocumented worker. Jasmine, a senior housekeeper, trains her.
Sam and Nisha separately discover that Bodyworks is now closed and thus Sam cannot return the bag.
At work, Jasmine feels ill and needs to rest. Nisha takes Jasmine’s keycard and enters Carl’s penthouse suite. She cannot find her passport but leaves with her clothing. As Jasmine catches her, Nisha confesses that she is married to Carl and wants her things back. Jasmine pleads with her to return the clothes because everything is attached to her keycard. Nisha relents and Jasmine returns everything.
Nisha, who had been staying in a budget hotel, finds herself homeless. Jasmine brings Nisha to her apartment to stay.
Nisha uses the phone of the Bentley Hotel’s chef, Aleks, to call Carl. They agree to meet in the hotel lobby. There, Carl will agree to a divorce settlement only if Nisha returns her Louboutins.
Simon threatens to fire Sam at Uberprint. Joel messages her, offering support. Sam decides to meet Joel for a drink. They nearly kiss before Joel suggests that he takes Sam to the boxing gym.
Sam’s daughter, Cat, is worried about her mother having an affair because she saw Sam and Joel at the boxing gym. Cat screams to Phil that Sam is having an affair and he needs to do something about it. Phil finds the Louboutins and hides them in his camper-van.
Nisha’s son, Ray, asks to come home from boarding school, forcing Nisha to admit that she is getting divorced. As they discuss Carl’s terms for settlement, Ray confesses that he thinks the Louboutins are fake, shocking Nisha. She goes to another White Horse pub and the bartender lets her view CCTV, where she finds footage of Sam wearing the shoes and traces Sam back to Uberprint.
Sam meets with Miriam Price who extends an invitation to Sam to interview for a position at her company. Joel and Sam kiss after she tells him about the offer. After she gets back to her desk, Nisha enters Uberprint demanding her shoes.
Simon fires Sam for theft. Nisha follows her home to reclaim her shoes, where Andrea is waiting for Sam. Sam cannot find the shoes at home and asks Phil. Phil says that Cat borrowed them. Sam discovers that Cat took the shoes to a charity shop.
Sam, Andrea, and Nisha go to the charity shop to get the shoes. They obtain the address of the woman who bought the shoes. They go to Jasmine’s apartment to plan to reclaim the shoes.
Nisha and Sam visit the Frobishers, who purchased the shoes from the charity shop, to inform them that they have won a prize and can claim it at the Bentley Hotel. When the Frobishers arrive at the hotel, Sam, Nisha, and Jasmine successfully trick them and retrieve the shoes.
The women celebrate at Jasmine’s apartment. As they examine the shoes, Nisha dismantles one of them, causing diamonds to spill from the heel. Nisha realizes that Carl was using her to smuggle diamonds. When Sam returns home, she discovers that someone broke into her house.
Andrea, Jasmine, and Nisha arrive to help Sam clean. While they are cleaning, Miriam Price asks Sam to confirm her interview for that afternoon. The women help Sam prepare for the interview, which goes well: Miriam hires Sam.
Sam ends things with Joel. When she gets home, she speaks with Phil and they agree to work on their marriage.
