Louise Wilson
Louise Wilson is the protagonist of Social Creature and the primary point of view character throughout the novel. At the start of the novel, Louise is a failed writer working multiple jobs to make ends meet and is living in Sunset Park, Brooklyn. She grew up in Devonshire, New Hampshire a fictional town in New England. Though Louise attended a public school, she tells people she simply went to school in "Devonshire" so people will assume that she attended the prestigious boarding school Devonshire Academy.
Lavinia hires Louise to be an SAT tutor for her younger sister, Cordelia, and Louise and Lavinia quickly strike up a friendship. Lavinia frequently takes Louise to expensive, extravagant parties and the two also use a large amount of drugs, mainly Adderall and cocaine.
