Summary
In Chapter 14, Strafford converses with Harbison in the bar. Harbison says that he is not welcome at Ballyglass House, as the Osbornes dislike him. Harbison also says that, in his opinion, his sister Sylvia is mentally unwell. Harbison mentions that he is interested in buying Lawless’ horse. He also says that Lawless has a sister, whom Strafford should contact. After Strafford finishes his dinner, Mrs. Reck shows him to his room in the inn. Mrs. Reck asks if it is true that Lawless has been murdered, but Strafford refuses to speak about an ongoing investigation.
In Chapter 15, in the morning, Strafford meets with Sergeant Jenkins. Strafford sees a newspaper report, which states that Lawless’ death was an accident.
