Summary
In Chapter 8, Strafford briefly walks around the house’s yards, looking for clues. He believes that he sees someone walking in the nearby woods, but when he goes to check, he cannot find anyone. However, he does find what appear to be drops of blood on a leaf. Nearby, he finds a camper van in which Fonsey apparently resides. Fonsey allows Strafford to look inside the van. Strafford asks Fonsey about Lawless, but Fonsey has little to say, other than a cryptic, sardonic remark about priests being friendly.
In Chapter 9, Strafford begins walking around the area before deciding to return to Ballyglass House. It is cold out, but fortunately a small truck stops, and the driver offers to give him a ride. The driver is Jeremiah Reck, who works as a butcher and the owner of a local inn. As they drive, Strafford mentions...
