Summary

Jack sat with Marvel and Reynolds in what passed as the combined interview room and storage closet at the police department. Marvel was unhappy that they had been outsmarted by a child. Because there was no guardian or parent present, nothing that Jack said would be admissible so Marvel was not eager to question him. Jack told Reynolds he had wanted to be caught because he wanted to make a deal. When Jack explained to them that his mother’s murder had never been solved, Marvel was more interested. Jack described how he had found the murder weapon in Adam’s boot, but that he had left it at the house. He explained that when he went back to get the knife that Adam had chased him, hit him, and then tried to burn down his house.
