Summary

In Chapter 25, Mason invites Billie to cook dinner at his house. He apologizes for “falling apart,” which she dismisses. Louise has asked Billie and Victor to be with her for her meeting with Leo. Billie can feel Mason pulling away. Billie feels they are putting up a false front for Leo – as the doting parents ready to give Leo advice. Billie is in awe of Victor, having forgotten how fun and wonderful he can be. Billie is leaving for a trip to the west coast soon. Louise suggests that she and Victor accompany Billie. They are interrupted by new that Hildy is in labor. Louise leaves. Billie talks to Calvin later that night. He says Bernice is going to live with her daughter. Billie catches him up on her news.
