Chapter 15, Hide-and-Seek; Chapter 16, Made in Britain Summary
In Chapter 15 the captain of The Liberian Star, Hermann de Wynter, tells Major Yu that a thorough search for Alex has been unsuccessful. Wynter knows how ruthless Major Yu is and fears that he will be shot on the spot. Unexpectedly, Yu takes the news in stride. He tells Wynter that Alex is a very competent secret agent, but that Yu has known his movements all along. Hoping that more time would cause Alex to make a fatal mistake, he orders the ship to delay docking for several hours. The captain informs Yu that this is impossible due to the strict timing requirements for the port.
