Chapters 16-17 Summary

In chapter 16, Conrad and Evan find Link. Evan quickly gives Link some beer to drink before making him a bed in the back of their station wagon. Evan wants to take Link to the doctor, but he insists on going back to the camp instead. Link shows Conrad and Evan what he has written, and explains to them in writing what he wants to do in order to catch Danilo. At this point, Link learns that Clifford Wenkins died in a fishing accident. Link knows then that Wenkins was the accomplice and that Danilo killed him to make Link's death look like a publicity stunt gone wrong. They begin back to the camp.
