Donnelly's Pub
Victor starts hanging out at Donnelly's Pub after he moves back to his hometown. He chooses the bar because of its proximity to his apartment, but he worries about making it his "local." Soon, though, he is going to the bar every night, and he begins to become acquainted with the other regulars there.
Dublin
Dublin is where Victor finds his greatest success as a young writer. There, he writes reviews of some of Ireland's greatest musicians and bands, and ruins a few careers. There, he also meets Rachel and it is where he spends most of his life with her. Dublin is where he is successful, and back in his hometown, he settles into his own perception of himself as a failure.
