Summary
In Chapter 9, shows Victor back in school being taught how to “protect myself” by one of the Brothers (97). The unnamed brother asked Victor to practice attacking him. When Victor ran at the brother, the brother “dumped me on the carpet” (97). The Brother held Victor down on the carpet, while massaging the back of his legs. At the same time, he described how useful the technique is for knocking out men of any size. As the Brother groped Victor’s genitals, he “held me there,” and did not move (98). Soon after, he told Victor they would meet again to keep practicing, and Victor thanked him.
In Chapter 10, Victor reminisces about when he and Rachel were first dating. He lived in an apartment complex then next to an older cook named Oscar. Rachel often came to Victor’s apartment to cook him dinner, using spices...
