Structure
The structure of Small Fry is generally in chronological order following the sequence of Lisa’s young life, from her childhood to her college years and the beginning of her adult life. Lisa divides the book into sections based on different stages of her life. The introduction deviates from the flow of the rest of the book because it starts at the end of Steve’s life, when Lisa is already an adult. This serves to set up the foundation of Lisa and Steve’s relationship and how their strange interactions might encompass the norms between them.
