Redemption

The theme of Blur’s redemption manifests primarily in his relationship with Cammie. Early in the novel, Blur is discontent with his life. He feels remorse over moving the infant and is generally upset with his past. He microdoses because it “does a nice job of bringing the wonder of being alive to the fore and pushing the horrors a tiny bit back” (18). To Blur’s surprise, when Cammie contacts him, he thinks, “There’s a small part of me that would like to believe there’s a child of mine out there who wants desperately to find me” (37). These elements establish the foundation, early in the novel, for Blur to redeem himself through the course of the novel.
