Barely Blur
The name of the novel’s protagonist is never definitively revealed, but he refers to himself as Barely Blur for most of the story. He is a 50-year-old man-for-hire in nefarious, illegal networks; his jobs range from murder to human-shuttling. Blur lives incognito and off-grid, but is contacted by Cammie, a young woman purporting to be his daughter.
When he was younger, Blur donated sperm to a sperm bank. At first skeptical of Cammie, Blur develops a relationship with her, via phone-calls, through the story and eventually makes the goal of his efforts to find her. Blur learns that he is one of the many sons of the leader of a ‘post-humanist’ cult, intent upon harvesting genetics to create an ideal population of servile workers.
