Summary
In Chapter 10, in Coughlin, Lowell and Maynard were waiting for a pre-trial conference when the judge went to sleep on the bench. When the officer in charge of Griner and Maynard tried to wake her, she beat him to death with her gavel before going back to sleep. The Griner brothers broke the arms off the bench to which they were shackled, got the cop’s keys and unlocked their handcuffs. They drove to a hunting cabin they had stocked in advance. Lowell told Maynard that while everyone was so focused on the Aurora Flu, they needed to go to the Dooling Sheriff’s Department and destroy the evidence against them.
