Summary
In Chapter 19, as Jared fixed himself and Clint sandwiches, Clint thought about what Lila had told him about Shannon’s daughter. He was surprised to learn she had a child but honored she had given the girl his name. He believed it meant that Shannon loved him. About that time Lila walked in with the baby.
Don, meanwhile, had killed his mother. It was only after she was dead that he realized he had overreacted. He cried because he did not want to have to go to jail or kill himself to avoid punishment. He finally decided to set his mother’s house on fire, believing it would cover his crime. Driving away, he convinced himself that his mother had deserved to die because she had been too nice to him and had not prepared him for the real world.
