Summary
In Chapter 3, when Lila asked Evie how she knew her name, Evie told her she was omniscient, like God. Evie warned Lila she had better kiss her husband goodbye while she still had the chance.
The old fox watched as Essie returned to the lean-to where she lived. He had come to know she was not a threat. She settled into sleep and the fox walked up to the lean-to. There were wisps of white like cobwebs growing over the woman’s head. The fox sniffed the cobwebs and sensed they were alive.
