Point of View
Sleep Donation is written from Trish Edgewater's first person point of view. As "the first recruiter assigned to [the Storch brothers'] team," Trish possesses an intimate knowledge of and intimate access to the inner-workings of the Slumber Corps (4). Trish's relationship to the Slumber Corps and to "the Insomnia Crisis," is also significant because of her sister Dori's death from sleeplessness (4). Trish is not only invested in her work with the Corps because she generally believes in their mission, but because she wants to believe her work is helping people like her sister survive. By writing the novella from Trish's point of view, therefore, the author is able to grant the reader organic entrance into her unique dystopian world. Though Trish is familiar with and invested in the world of the Slumber Corps, as a narrator, she is eager to impart the details of this world...
