Layken Cohen
Layken Cohen is the main character, narrator, and principle protagonist of the novel Slammed by Colleen Hoover. Layken is a beautiful eighteen year-old girl who appears to be independent and courageous, but is deeply haunted by the death of her father six months before, and saddened by the move from her native Texas to Michigan with her mother, Julia, and her brother, Kel. Layken quickly meets twenty-one year-old Will, who lives across the street with his little brother, Caulder. Layken goes on a date with Will to a slam contest, and the two are incredibly attracted to one another, and kiss several times. But at school, Layken discovers Will is her teacher -and Will is horrified by the revelation. While Layken wants a secret relationship with Will, Will puts the brakes on things, because he has his career and his brother to worry about.
