Open House

The Open House event at Slade House occurs on the last Saturday of October every nine years. This is the day that Norah and Jonah take the soul of an empath to power their immortality for another nine years. The term "open house" seems to indicate that people have the option of whether to enter, but the twins actually create the situation that manipulates them into entering.

The Clock

The clock is at the top of the stairs at Slade House. It is a large clock and it has the words, “Time is, time was, time is not” engraved on it. Each of the victims notices the clock, which doesn't include hands to show the time. The clock is a symbol of the twins' immortality. Time has literally stopped for them and they remain young adults, apparently for eternity.
