The Revival
In "The Church of Abundant Life," Ki-tae's revival is a symbol of the past. When Soo first hears about the revival, she finds herself overcome by memories of her former life and all the decisions she could have made differently. Attending the arrival forces her to confront the figures of her past in order to reconcile herself with the life she has chosen.

In "First Language," the blue line in the Lincoln Tunnel symbolizes decision. At the story's start, Sae-ri says that when she and James cross the blue line she will tell him the truth.
