Point of View
Except for the first chapter, which can be regarded as a preface, and the prologue, which are presented in an omniscient third person point of view, the reader is presented with multiple points of view. The thoughts and feelings of each character involved in a scene are presented in a third person point of view. Occasionally, where appropriate, such as in the exposition of why Maggie Gonzalez takes up her blackmail scheme, or, where the personal history of Chemo is depicted, an omniscient third person point of view is used.
Setting
The main settings for the story is the stilt houses in Biscayne Bay, in the Whispering Palms clinic in Miami and various houses and locations in the Biscayne and Miami area. An important interlude occurs when the principal characters go to New York separately and confront each other in Maggie Gonzalez's hotel room.
