Chapters 16 to 18 Summary

Mick Stranahan stops by his brother-in-law's office on his way to the airport to verify that Kipper Garth has obtained the Graveline files. Stranahan tells him that he, Kipper, will be using them to sue Dr. Graveline and instructs him to go down to the courthouse and file the papers. Graveline, meanwhile, is indulging in sex with his latest paramour, the actress Heather Chappell. While he is making love in the black marble fireplace with the actress he suddenly comes to the realization that he has to have Maggie Gonzalez eliminated. The next day while his brother George is complaining about Stranahan's confrontation with him on the subject of bodies disappearing in wood chipping machines, Chemo turns up at the clinic. Rudy Graveline gives Chemo two thousand dollars and a photograph of Maggie Gonzalez and tells him to kill her.
