Chapters 7 and 8 Summary

In chapter seven, Jordan explores Reece's cabin, which includes a locked door that keeps Jordan out of one room. She then lies down on the couch and falls asleep while Reece is gone to collect Jordan's car. When Reece returns, cold and wet, she lets Jordan sleep while she showers. Jordan wakes and is surprised to find that it's after eight o'clock. Reece sets out to prepare a meal using the vegetables from her refrigerator. Jordan knows she has some prepackaged meals in her car, but Reece shares her salad with Jordan. Afterward, Jordan insists on doing the dishes and Reece allows her.

There is a lengthy scene in which the two women share a glass of cognac in the living room. There is a fire in the fireplace and the conversation turns to Jordan's role as a reporter. Reece challenges...
