Chapters 1 through 4 Summary
As the story opens, Jordan Griffin is headed to work. It's raining as usual in Seattle, Washington. Jordan is a journalist. Her previous job had been with the Mountain States Cattlemen's Journal and had enjoyed her job as assistant editor, though it wasn't a glamorous position. She'd worked there four years when Northwest Living Magazine advertised for an assistant editor's position and she loves her new job. Jordan is now living in a metropolitan city with plenty of opportunities for socializing and a job she loves.
She arrives at her office and greets the secretary, Lisa, who advises Jordan to go directly to her morning meeting.
