Point of View
Site Fidelity explores the diverse perspectives of people who make up a small town in the American west. Importantly, the point of view in the book changes across the stories. While some are told in third person, others employ a first person narrative. Across the stories, the perspectives provide a unique opportunity for the reader to engage with differing viewpoints. For example, “Alto Cumulus Standing Lenticulars” first introduces the reader to Ruth and her marriage to Del. However, in the next story, “Early Warning Systems,” the story is told from the point of view of Mano, her sister, which means the story is riddled with comments about Ruth. While the reader already has in-depth knowledge of Ruth’s circumstances, one gains an understanding of how others perceive here.
