Summary

In another flashback, Daisy describes how her life conspired to have her returning to St. Louis despite how desperately she'd wanted to leave it behind. In fact, Kate seldom went home even just to visit once she'd started college. In a phone call, her father admitted to her that her mother had fibromyalgia and was on medication that tired her. She rarely got out of bed, never cooked and her father’s diet had been reduced to frozen dinners while her mother existed on juice and crackers with spreadable cheese. Kate's mother was unable to attend her graduation and as such, her father was also absent although Violet and Patrick surprise her by showing up.
