Section 14: Chapter 47-49 Summary
In Chapter 47, Chiquita and Bae-Bae park in front of Big Momma's, Chiquita's grandmother and Bae-Bae's mother, old house. Both of their faces are filled with memories. Bae-Bae tells Chiquita to listen because she will only tell this once and let it rest after today. Bae-Bae got pregnant when she was 14, and her Daddy beat her, causing her to lose the baby, and threatened to put her out if she ever got pregnant again. When she got pregnant again at 17, she returned home to find a suitcase and $20 on the front porch. She shacked up with the man who got her pregnant and who she wanted to marry, but when he stood her up at the courthouse, she learned that he had a wife in Tupelo and he left Bae-Bae, never to return.
