Section 10: Chapter 35-37 Summary
In Chapter 35, Brown had followed Chiquita from Inda's room, and they talked in the hallway for thirty minutes before Chiquita invited him to her room. She told him about Raymond, and he shared some of his problems about growing up in an interracial family. Since he is tired and has been drinking, Chiquita offers to share her bed, but they both sleep on their own sides. She wakes in the middle of the night to see Brown crying by the window, and when she asks what is wrong, he tells her about Gwen, a girl he dated a few months earlier who died of a stroke. They kiss and get back into bed, but Brown stops their contact because it will not solve anything. They cuddle, and she tells him that she does not know who her father is...
