East Anglia
East Anglia is a small, seaside town in Britain. It is quaint and, during the off-season, fairly quiet. Much of the action in the chapters focusing on Julian and Edward occur in and around East Anglia. At the beginning of the novel, Julian has recently moved to East Anglia in order to open a bookstore. The town serves as a distinct foil to his fast-paced former life in London. Throughout the novel, Julian adjusts to the unfamiliar simplicity of his new home.
