Summary
In Chapter 6, Julian continues to await another visit from Edward. He reflects on his new, quiet life in East Anglia. Despite some restlessness, he expresses regret about his former life in London and he reassures himself that “I’m a better man now. I have forsaken the glitter of gold for the scent of old paper” (67). At night, he sometimes walks to the gates of Silverview, the Avon family’s estate at the edge of town.
Finally, Edward visits the store and joins Julian for coffee.
