Point of View

The Point of View through which Silver Sparrow is told directly ties in to the structure and themes of the novel. Part One of the novel is told in the first-person by Dana, encompassing Chapters 1-11. Part Two of the novel is told in the first-person by Chaurisse, going from Chapters 12-26. Following the end of Chapter 26, a brief, chapter-length epilogue is then narrated by Dana, during a scene that takes place over ten years after the end of Chapter 26.

While there are many subtle differences between how the two characters narrate their portions of the novel, based on their different personalities, the primary difference is that Dana is completely aware of the identity and personality of Chaurisse, while Chaurisse, when she encounters Dana by chance at the mall, believes her to be a complete stranger.
