Summary

Tristán convinces Abel to invite Montserrat back over. During their dinner, Abel gets increasingly drunk, and pulls out a photo album to show to Montserrat and Tristán. Abel explains that his final horror film, Beyond the Yellow Door, was conceived of by Ewers as a kind of spell, one that would restore Alma Montero’s youth and beauty. However, when Ewers became sick, he betrayed Montero by changing the spell to save himself, casting Abel’s girlfriend, Clarimonde Bauer, in the leading role instead. When Alma found out, she stopped bankrolling the film, which ended in ruin. Abel expresses his earnest belief that his life has been cursed since then because the spell that Ewers intended to cast was never completed. He excitedly asks Montserrat and Tristán to help him finish the movie and therefore complete the spell.
