Summary

In Chapter 31, many are horrified to see Caitriona's injuries. Cabell, realizing what happened, runs, terrified he is corrupted like the children. Bedivere arrives and says Cabell fought the shift. Tamsin realizes Bedivere is a much calmer presence than her and she admits she does not know what to do. Bedivere is confident he can help and swears no one will hurt Cabell. Tamsin reluctantly tells Bedivere to ask Cabell and Emrys takes her to the forge where the dead wait to be burned. However, everyone knows that those who are not buried cannot be reborn. Meanwhile, Rhona tells Caitriona her arm may not be usable after healing. Flea lashes out at Tamsin, but Catriona says it is not their fault. Then, she asks Rhona to retrieve Neve’s wand, saying everything has changed.
