Summary

Chapter 19 starts as Tamsin and Cabell meet at daybreak. One priestess, Arianwen, is surprised that Caitriona is late. Bedivere says he will go with the group as Tamsin notes the sickly gray patches on the tree. She feels everyone has surrendered to grief. Cabell wonders what he will say to Nash, as time may have passed differently in Avalon. Neve and Flea arrive, though Tamsin catches Flea trying to pickpocket her. Caitriona and Emrys join the siblings while Neve goes with Olwen to the library. Tamsin stubbornly rides with Emrys when he taunts her, though she does not understand why she feels strange when he gets closer. They follow Caitriona into the decaying sacred grove where they see a skeleton.
