Summary

In Chapter 42, Emma realized that Jake had made a mistake in underestimating her. Now that she knew he was the one who had caused the pain she had felt during the last decade she had a reason to fight him. Emma jumped in front of Aiden to shield him from Jake and at the same time caught Jake off guard. As they struggled, Emma managed to get the knife away from Jake and get her hands on the stone statue. She hit him in the head with the statue until she realized Aiden was singing. Aiden was standing by the door and began to run when Emma moved toward him. She believed he was afraid of her. Emma got her smashed phone and ran after Aiden.
