Alina Starkov

Alina Starkov was born an orphan in Dva Stolba. She and Mal were both raised at Duke Keramsov’s estate in the country. The two children did everything together and loved each other more than anything. When they were supposed to be tested for Grisha abilities, like all Ravkan children, Alina intentionally hid her powers so that she could remain by Mal’s side. As they grew older, Alina fell in love with Mal. They enroll in the king’s army and Alina becomes a cartographer while Mal becomes a tracker. They end up on a ship crossing The Fold together. When Mal nearly gets killed by a Volcra, Alina releases her long-repressed powers and uses her light to protect Mal.
