Summary

In Chapter 19, the Fabrikator, David, designed a series of mirrors that allowed Alina to use her light to slice the entire forest in half. She was excited to have such a weapon to meet the Darkling with, but she was seeing him more than ever and Mal was acting distant and angry with her. One day, she went down to the docks with Nikolai. He said he wanted to kiss her, but he would not until she stopped obsessing over Mal. Alina was surprised that she sort of wanted him to kiss her.

In Chapter 20, Alina decided to go talk to Mal. Tamar took her to the stables, where Mal was fighting a Grisha in front of a crowd for fun. After he won, Zoya kissed him, and he kissed her back. He saw Alina and ran after her into the woods...
