Chapters 5 and 6 Summary

Jamie says TJ took up photography as a hobby when they were stationed in Germany. TJ was in junior high school at the time. their mother always says that TJ has a good eye. Photography is the one hobby that the Colonel and TJ don't have in common. Jamie says that TJs pictures changed when he got to Vietnam. TJ started photographing people and the moon. Before TJ leaves for Vietnam, he mentions that TJ probably won't have any time to use his cameras because he'll be too busy trying not to get shot. Jamie says the Colonel is wrong about that.

Jamie takes the pictures she developed to show her friend Cindy Lorenzo. Mrs. Dexter and Mrs. Lorenzo are best friends and the families live across the street from one another. Cindy is 11, but she seems a bit slow and...
