Bright Sands Beach

Bright Sands Beach is the main setting of the novel. It is where the salvage crews live and the salvage companies operate. Bright Sands Beach is where Nailer, his father, Pima, and the others live and work. Bright Sands Beach is pummeled by a storm so bad that it erases every trace of human presence on the shore, except for the wrecks of ships which litter the sand.

New Orleans

New Orleans is located at the mouth of the Mississippi in the southern United States. It was wiped out by a storm generations before.

Orleans II

Orleans II, built further up the Mississippi, is a reincarnation of New Orleans. It, too, is ravaged and made unlivable by a deadly storm.
