Summary
Chapter 16
The escape, though so far successful, is not without issues. They have precious few supplies. Attempts to scavenge the train are fruitless. As they travel, Nita explains that the people after her are under the command of Nathaniel Pyce, a business-marriage uncle, who wants her for leverage. Pyce had shady business dealings. Using Nita would allow Pyce to stop her father from causing him trouble. Billions of dollars in Chinese Red Cash are at stake. Pyce has secretly been producing tar sands fuel to ship to China. Tool explains that such fuel is black market material. Nailer is not impressed with the excesses of the rich. Tool is not, either.
Chapter 17
The abandoned wreck of New Orleans soon appears. Nailer is amazed that so many people lived in such nice buildings, and that they all had cars. Another city looms ahead. It...
