Summary
Chapter 1
Nailer, part of a light crew for salvaging specific types of metal, moves through a beached shipwreck to free copper wiring. He sees around by way of the LED phosphorescent paint that is smeared on his forehead. Heavy crews will be along later to strip away larger and heavier metals. He wears a mask over his face to protect him from the dust, mouse grit, and other dirt that is inside the shipwreck. He washes the mask frequently, though his crew girl, Sloth, laughs at him for giving himself more work than is necessary, or for wearing it at all. His mother has told him to wear the mask no matter what, and so he does. As he finishes up work, Nailer puts Bapi’s light crew code on the wall, a labor mark that gives him and the crew the right...
