Summary

In Chapter 42, Hallorann is finally on a plane the following morning. Although he’d tried to get a park ranger to check The Overlook, all the workers are busy trying to rescue some climbers who have gotten stuck in the mountains. It is as the plane is about to take off that Hallorann gets Danny’s clipped message.

In Chapter 43, Jack senses that all of the past years of the hotel have merged together. He joins the people in the bar and orders a martini from Lloyd.
