Importance: This shows how much Zhu values courage and how she struggles to respect those who are not willing to fight for their futures. In this case, she has been told her entire life that her brother, Chongba, is the special one. He is supposed to be great, while she is destined to become nothing. So, when Chongba gives up and lets himself die after losing his father, Zhu does not pity him. She is angry that he gave up when she feels that she never had a chance to make a life for herself. This is why Zhu does not struggle to take his name and fate for herself.
