Chapter 9 through 11 Summary

In Chapter 9, Sarah prepares for the dance but carefully takes all her knives, just to be safe. She knows that she has many enemies in the vampire world that would recognize her witch's aura, especially on this day. Christopher asks her to dance and she accepts though she senses the presence of another witch nearby which makes her uneasy. She suddenly realizes it's Adianna and breaks off contact with Christopher. There's a brief conflict between Adianna and Sarah but Sarah, using her mental connection to Adianna, pleads silently for time to tell Christopher what she is without putting him in danger. Adianna nods, allowing Sarah that time, and backs away.

In Chapter 10, Sarah leads Christopher to the back of the building where their conversation won't be overheard and tells him not to contact her anymore. He is obviously hurt and she...
