Chapters 1 through 3 Summary

As the story opens, Sarah Vida is pulling up in front of a house where there's a party underway. Sarah is a witch and a vampire hunter and she is on the trail of an infamous vampire named Nikolas. Sarah's family has a history with Nikolas who has roamed and killed since the 1800s. His first victim was Sarah's ancestor, Elisabeth Vida, who was also a vampire hunter. Sarah has been tipped off to a party in which humans who are "bonded" to vampires allow their vampire counterparts to feed off them. Sarah says she doesn't like being alone in this situation but she hadn't had time to make many calls on the drive over and no one had answered. Sarah knows she's in danger because she's the only vampire hunter in a huge group of strong vampires, but she doesn't...
