Summary
Part 3 begins a new play script. The main characters of this play are a homesick Lewis and Margaret C. Finnegan who knows a lot about the ocean, having the same mutation as Lewis. She does not, however, know much about “matters of the heart” (317). She was raised by a pod of dolphins and wants to be called by her full name because it reminds her of her mother, Carolyn. Next is a note which warns the reader that the next part explores the theme of what it is to be “part human, part animal” and whether “meaning can be found in being” (319). “The forthcoming events are in no way examples of outright love and romanticism,” but the reader is free to their own interpretation of events (319).
