Summary
It is summer, and Angela is described as a nice girl who cares for her parents, hoping her father, when home, does not notice when her mother drinks too much. In a scene from the play, Angela’s mother, Colleen, comes in and wishes her a happy birthday for the next day, but Colleen does not know how old Angela is. She tells her that it is important people see her as a good girl. This disturbs Angela who wonders if her mother is referring to boys. She wishes she had friends.
Angela yearns for her father who is not often home, and she needs to get away from her mother at times, so she goes to a country club tennis court. One day, a guy comes and plays there, and after that, she returns at the same time in the hopes of seeing...
