Chapter Three Summary
Lily arrives home, tired from a day's work to find Claude sleeping in his car. Lily wakes him, and removes a sheet of paper from his window. The paper encourages white men to push back against the loss of jobs and such. Clearly a racist group is trying to incite problems in Shakespeare. Lily and Claude both think there is trouble brewing.
The two share a snack and Lily heads to karate class, leaving Claude at her house so that the two can go to dinner in Montrose when she returns. At class Lily sees the usual group of people including Janet Shook, and Carlton Cockroft. The stranger with the dark ponytail is there, as well as a new woman that has gotten the attention of the single men in the room. Class begins and ends in the usual fashion and...
