Quebec
Quebec was originally a French colony located in the eastern region of the Canada territories. The main narrative takes place almost entirely in Quebec. Euclide and Cécile live in Quebec, where the Count de Frontenac is the governor. Euclide originally came to Quebec from France with his wife and daughter in order to be the Count’s personal physician. Quebec, like the other French colonies, is portrayed as highly defined by religious devotion and by the exigencies of daily colonial life.
The Auclairs’ Residence
Euclide and Cécile live in a comfortable residence in Quebec. The building contains Euclide’s apothecary shop as well as Euclide and Cécile’s actual domestic quarters. Cécile often assists her father in responsibilities related to both domestic life and the operation of the apothecary shop.
The Church
